On the Vesak Poya day, the Hiru Shakya Singha Festival organised by the Hiru Media Network led by Hiru TV and Hiru FM has commenced at the historic Mahiyangana Raja Maha Viharaya.
The Hiru Shakya Singha Festival is an initiative of Hiru Media Network Chairman Raynor Silva, who continuously contributes to the preservation and growth of Buddhism through extensive religious service for the continuity of the Sasana.
A series of religious activities, including poetic Dharma sermons and Dhamma discussions beneficial for both this world and the next, are scheduled to take place throughout the day (30) at the historic Mahiyangana temple premises.
The act of solemn aspiration for the continuity of the Buddha Sasana will begin at 5.30 p.m. today.
During this event, the sacred Miyugun Chaityaraja of the historic Mahiyangana Raja Maha Viharaya will be worshipped with fragrant incense, floral offerings, and the performance of five-fold musical offerings, followed by the offering of Buddha statues.
A vibrant multi-colored lighting offering will also be conducted for the Chaityaraja, which enshrines the hair relics of the Buddha and stands at the historic Mahiyangana Raja Maha Viharaya, under the leadership of Hiru Media Network Chairman Reyno Silva.
Meanwhile, in conjunction with the Hiru Shakya Singha Festival, another major meritorious event — the Hiru Supreme Relic Veneration, featuring the authentic sacred relics of Kapilavastu — will also commence tomorrow at the same historic site.
For this relic veneration, the authenticated sacred relics of Kapilavastu and the alms bowl relic of Lord Buddha will be brought to the Mahiyangana temple premises.
Accordingly, the Kapilavastu sacred relic exposition, which allows hundreds of thousands of devotees from across the country to pay homage, will be held from tomorrow morning until the morning of June 2 at the historic Mahiyangana Raja Maha Viharaya.
The Hiru Media Network invites all devotees to participate in both the Shakya Singha Festival and the Supreme Relic Veneration, which emphasise both ritual offerings and practice-based devotion at this sacred historic site.
