Four main suspects involved in a robbery at a gold jewellery manufacturing company in Minuwangoda on April 13 have been arrested by the Gampaha Divisional Criminal Investigation Bureau.
Police said the arrested suspects are residents of the Hettipola area, and one of them was a former employee of the same jewellery manufacturing company.
Investigations have revealed that the robbery was carefully planned using inside information provided by this former employee.
Police further stated that over 12 sovereigns of gold jewellery, including rings, necklaces, bangles, chains, and pendants, were stolen.
These items were later found to have been pawned in areas including Colombo, Hettipola, Chilaw, and Kaduwela.
The total value of the recovered gold jewellery is estimated to exceed Rs. 8.5 million, according to police.
Investigations are continuing to arrest another suspect linked to the robbery.
