A committee appointed by Presidential Secretary Dr. Nandika Sanath Kumanayake today (07), will conduct a comprehensive investigation into the unrest at the Negombo prison and its underlying causes, following Cabinet approval.
The President’s Media Division announced the formation of this panel.
Accordingly, Retired Supreme Court Judge Priyantha Fernando chairs the committee, with former Additional Solicitor General and President’s Counsel Milinda Gunatilake and President’s Counsel Mohan Weerakoon as members.
Senior Assistant Secretary to the President K. L. D. Asela serves as the secretary and convener for the investigation.
