Authorities call for careful water use

Authorities request the public, including the farming community, to use water with caution during daily chores and agricultural activities.

The Irrigation Department issued this appeal in the face of a possible upcoming El Nino condition.

A water capacity of around 48 percent currently remains across 80 reservoirs, which is expected to be sufficient, the department's Director of Water Management, H.M.P.S.D. Herath stated, highlighting the need of public support by using water sparingly.
