The US embassy in Oman has warned American citizens to shelter in place if they’re in the city of Duqm and governorate of Musandam “due to recent activity”.
“If in Duqm or Musandam, to the extent possible, remain in your residence, hotel, or another structure, and stay away from windows,” it said in a statement. “We are monitoring the situation in the Middle East closely and will keep you updated so you can make decisions about your safety.”
The embassy said people wanting to leave the Middle East can receive assistance from the US government as it provides “the latest information about the departure options”.
