A suspicion prevails that a conspiracy to overthrow the government lies behind the recent violent clash at the Negombo prison, National People's Power (NPP) Parliamentrian Dewananda Suraweera said.
The Member of Parliament mentioned this while replying to a question raised by the media regarding the allegation that the government cannot protect even the prisoners under its charge.
Further expressing views, the Member of Parliament stated that the present government faces no inability to provide security.
He added that the investigation must look into the conspiracy behind the rekindling of a settled clash, which resulted in several public servants losing their lives.
Further, he alleged that a group of people wishes to change this government and gain power through whatever means, and they will have to go to court at one point.
Therefore, a team contemplates sending this government home by executing conspiracies against it very quickly, and organised incidents cannot be prevented when such a team exists, he alleged.
