Two children of the same family who were travelling in a vallam died after it capsized in a lagoon in the Kurakkan Hena area of Kalpitiya.
Police mentioned that the mother and father were hospitalised following the incident.
They were travelling in a vallam yesterday afternoon to bring back nets used for fishing. The mother, father, and children submerged under water when the vallam capsized at that moment, and the seven-year-old boy and thirteen-year-old girl died after admission to the Kalpitiya Hospital. Police mentioned that the mother of the children receives treatment at the Kalpitiya Hospital, while the father was admitted to the Puttalam Hospital for further treatment.small
