The Department of Meteorology forecasted showers or thundershowers from time to time in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, and North-Western provinces, as well as in the Kandy, Nuwara Eliya, Galle, and Matara districts.
Fairly heavy showers above 75 millimetres may occur at some places in these areas.
Showers or thundershowers may occur at a few places in the Uva province and in the Ampara and Batticaloa districts after 2:00 p.m.
Gusty winds of about 30 to 40 kilometres per hour may occur from time to time in the North-Central, North-Western, Central, and Southern provinces, and in the Mannar district.
The department requests the public to take necessary measures to minimise damages caused by temporary gusty winds and lightning that may occur with thundershowers.
