The wife of former Cabinet Minister and Monaragala District Member of Parliament Jagath Pushpakumara died following a sudden mishap.
The deceased was identified as Deshani Gunaratne, a 55-year-old mother of two.
Our correspondent stated that the incident occurred when she fell to the ground from the second floor of a newly constructed building belonging to them.
She passed away this morning while receiving treatment at the Karapitiya Hospital.
The body is scheduled to be taken to their residence in Tanamalwila.
