The Department of Meteorology forecasts few spells of rain may occur today in the Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces as well as in the Kandy, Nuwara Eliya, Galle, and Matara districts.
Showers or thundershowers may occur at a few places in the Ampara, Monaragala, and Batticaloa districts after 2.00 pm.
Meanwhile, mainly dry weather conditions prevail across the remaining areas of the island.
According to the announcement, fairly strong winds at times of about 30 to 40 km/h can be expected over the western slopes of the central hills, the North Central and North Western provinces, and the Mannar, Trincomalee, Hambantota, and Matale districts.
