Two students died and five others were seriously injured in a motorcycle collision that occurred on the Koddaikallar main road in Batticaloa, Batticaloa Police say.
Police state that the collision occurred near the Koddaikallar Kannaki Amman Tat around 9.21 p.m. yesterday (22).
Two motorcycles carrying four youths from the Koddaikallar area were travelling along the Kalmunai road when the two motorcycles collided with each other.
Police say it was revealed that one motorcycle lost control and hit three students who were waiting to cross the road.
The deceased are two students sitting for the Ordinary Level examination this time.
Seven individuals were injured in this collision and hospitalised.
In this collision, 18-year-old Kishon died at the scene, while 17-year-old Kathisan died this morning (23) while receiving treatment in hospital.
The deceased students were involved in this collision while returning home after completing a special tuition class.
Police, conducting further investigations into the incident, state that two more male children and three female children injured in the collision are currently hospitalised.
