The David Pieris Group has entered into a strategic partnership with HelaGo, the ride-hailing platform integrated into the Helakuru Superapp, to foster a more equitable and transparent mobility sector in Sri Lanka.
The agreement was formally signed between David Pieris Motor Company (Lanka) Limited and HelaGo's management recently at the David Pieris Group Head Office in Battaramulla.
HelaGo, developed by Bhasha Lanka (Pvt) Ltd, operates on an economic model designed to empower both drivers and passengers.
It moves away from algorithmically dictated fares, instead allowing pricing to reflect genuine, real-time demand and supply within the market.
This system aims to ensure drivers can earn a fair wage while giving passengers clear, informed options that match their needs.
The platform supports various payment methods, including cash, card, and the integrated Helakuru digital wallet, HelaPay. Leveraging the millions of existing Helakuru Superapp users, HelaGo is set up for quick adoption across the nation, aiming to create a sustainable and fair transport experience.
Dhanika Perera, Chairman of HelaGo and Founder of Helakuru, said the alliance with David Pieris Motor Company (Lanka) would "introduce a new chapter in mobility, one that is fair, transparent and truly empowering for every passenger and driver."
Samantha Silva, Executive Director of David Pieris Motor Company (Lanka) Limited, commented that the partnership mirrors their shared commitment to empowering both transport providers and customers through "affordable, technology-enabled mobility options."
