Wonder Project is expanding into children’s programming with a two-season pickup for the new series “Fluff Piece,” Variety has learned exclusively.
“Fluff Piece” hails from creators Sylvia Brindis, Shane Snow, and Brian Donegan, with Brindis also starring. Wonder Project has commissioned 22 episodes total, with the 10-episode first season set to premiere on July 9. Two episodes will be released each week.
The show is designed to teach young audiences media literacy and critical thinking skills through music, movement, and storytelling. Per the official logline, the show “follows upbeat Happy Herald reporter Fiona Flash (Brindis) and her animated dog sidekick and staff photographer, Fluff, as they investigate silly mysteries and rumors around town. Whether tracking down a rooftop Pegasus or uncovering the truth behind rainbow-colored puddles, the duo follows clues, checks facts, and discovers that things are rarely what they first seem. Young viewers—known as ‘Newshounds’—are invited to investigate alongside them, encouraging curiosity, critical thinking, and the joy of asking good questions.”
Every episode features an original song composed by Devin Delaney of Noisefloor, with more than 15 original songs featured throughout the first season. Musical sequences are choreographed by The Joffrey Ballet’s Xavier Nuñez and feature performances from The Joffrey Ballet Chicago dancers.
