The Under-13 Division One Inter-School Cricket Tournament, organised by the Sri Lanka Schools Cricket Association under the patronage of Sri Lanka Cricket, is underway, with 78 teams competing in the first round
The teams are grouped into 11 sections for the initial league stage.
32 teams will then qualify for the knockout final round.
The first three matches of the league stage must be played by October 15, and the first round is scheduled to conclude on November 05.
In the previous tournament, Devapathiraja College, Ratgama, and D. S. Senanayake College, Colombo, were declared joint champions.
Four teams have been promoted to Division One this year.
These include P. de S. Kularathna College, Ambalangoda, who were the runners-up in Division Two last season.
They are joined by Karandeniya Central College and Ananda Sastralaya, Matugama, both of whom reached the Division Two semi-finals.
Also promoted is President's College, Maharagama, which secured the highest points among the quarter-finalists.
However, two schools that played in Division One last time, Vidyaloka College, Galle, and Galahitiyawa Central College, have been relegated to Division Two.
