The Sri Lankan team managed to win the first One Day International cricket match between Sri Lanka and the West Indies by 41 runs. Sri Lanka, batting first in the match that began last night local time in Kingston, Jamaica, scored 303 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in the allocated 50 overs. Pathum Nissanka scored 79 runs and captain Kusal Mendis scored 72 runs off 62 balls during the innings.
The West Indies team, playing their reply innings, were bowled out for 262 runs in 49 overs and 2 balls. Dushmantha Chameera took 4 wickets for 67 runs. Accordingly, Sri Lanka take a 1-0 lead in the One Day International series, with the next match scheduled to take place next Sunday in Jamaica.
