Mohamed Faizan Mohamed Naiser, representing the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB), has been elected as the new Chairman of the Beruwala Pradeshiya Sabha.
Our correspondent also reports that Neville Ranjith of the United National Party (UNP) has been elected as the Vice Chairman.
The election for the Chairmanship took place today (20), via a secret ballot held at the Beruwala Pradeshiya Sabha, presided over by Western Local Government Commissioner Sarangika Kalhari Jayasundara.
The SJB-led opposition candidate secured 22 votes, while the National People's Power candidate received 21 votes.
