Sri Lanka reports over 35,000 Dengue cases

Sri Lanka has recorded nearly 35,300 dengue cases and around 20 deaths so far this year, according to the Acting Director of the National Dengue Control Unit, Dr. Kapila Kannangara.

Speaking at a media briefing in Colombo yesterday, Dr. Kannangara said the Colombo District has reported the highest number of infections.

In response to the rising caseload, authorities will launch a three-day special dengue mosquito control programme beginning the day after tomorrow. The campaign will cover 72 Medical Officer of Health (MOH) divisions across 14 districts.
