Rayner stepped down after the PM’s ethics adviser ruled she breached the ministerial code by failing to pay sufficient tax on her £800,000 flat. The adviser noted she had “acted with integrity.” Rayner said she takes “full responsibility,” while Starmer said he was “very sorry” her time ended this way.
