Prime minister urges collective effort for a new era of freedom

The government has embarked on a fresh path alongside a leadership built by the collective will of the people, Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya stated in her Independence Day message.

Efforts to rebuild the nation for a skilled, intelligent, and humane future generation have already commenced, according to the Prime Minister.

She emphasised that the time has arrived for every citizen to contribute individually and collectively toward forming a value-driven Sri Lankan identity.

The administration remains committed to stabilising the economy on a firm foundation and establishing a new political culture that redefines leadership ideals.

Key priorities include fostering equality and empathy across ethnic and religious lines, eliminating rural poverty, and ensuring no vulnerable citizen is left behind through robust social welfare mechanisms.

The government also focuses on digitising the economy via modern science and technology while branding Sri Lanka globally as a nation with a credible, non-aligned foreign policy.

The Prime Minister called on all Sri Lankans to set aside narrow political interests and unite with confidence to join the "era of renaissance" during this 78th National Independence Day.
