The Department of Meteorology has issued a weather advisory predicting scattered showers or thunderstorms across the Western, Sabaragamuwa, and North-Western provinces, as well as the Galle, Matara, Kandy, and Nuwara Eliya districts, after 2:00 PM today.
Certain areas within the Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces and the Galle and Matara districts may experience heavy rainfall exceeding 50 mm.
While slight showers are possible in the Uva and Eastern provinces, the rest of the island will remain predominantly dry.
Forecasters also warn of misty conditions during the early morning hours in the Western, Central, and Sabaragamuwa provinces, including the Galle, Matara, and Kurunegala districts.
The department urges the public to take necessary precautions to minimize risks from temporary high winds and lightning strikes associated with these thunderstorms.
