The second student involved in a severe crash in Pallekele, Kandy, passed away this morning.
Both students were traveling to assist with organizational duties for the annual cricket encounter between St. Sylvester’s College and Vidyartha College when the incident occurred.
The motorcycle carrying the duo collided with a private bus near the Ratmaloya Bridge in Pallekele around 6:30 AM.
One student died at the scene, while the other was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit of the Kandy National Hospital in critical condition before succumbing to his injuries.
Both victims were Grade 13 students and members of the security committee appointed for the "Big Match."
They were en route to manage stadium entry and ticket inspections for arriving spectators.
Police stated that the motorcycle collided with a private bus traveling from Digana to Kandy.
The bus driver is in custody, and Pallekele Police are conducting further investigations.
