Welimada Hospital and Pradeshiya Sabha lands catch fire

A fire broke out on lands belonging to the Welimada Base Hospital and the Pradeshiya Sabha this afternoon (09).

Local residents attempted to extinguish the fire, but it continued to spread at around 6:00 p.m., according to our correspondent.

The dry weather and windy conditions prevailing in the area caused the fire to spread further, the correspondent added.
