Ceylon Cannabis brand makes global debut at ICBC Berlin event

For the first time, the “Ceylon Cannabis” brand was officially released to the world at the International Cannabis Business Conference, the world’s largest and longest-running medical cannabis B2B event, held recently in Germany.

ICBC, recognised as the premier global medical cannabis B2B platform, was hosted at the iconic Estrel Berlin Hotel, the country’s largest conference and entertainment centre.

Dr. Arosha Fernando, Chairman of the Ceylon Medical Cannabis Exporters Association (CMCEA), said the “Ceylon Cannabis” brand was officially unveiled to the world during the ICBC event held in Germany two weeks ago, in collaboration with the Sri Lanka Export Development Board.

Dr. Fernando thanked both the EDB and the ICBC Germany organising committee for their support, noting that strong interest was generated among attendees. He added that several potential investors have already confirmed plans to visit Sri Lanka for further discussions with the CMCEA and the Government.

As of August 2025, Sri Lanka’s Board of Investment approved seven foreign investors for legal, export-oriented, medical cannabis cultivation, selected from 37 applicants.

The projects require a minimum investment of US$5 million and a US$2 million bond deposit, and are restricted to pharmaceutical production on 64 acres under strict regulations, including STF and police security.

The CMCEA, one of the approved entities, also participated in the ICBC 2026 event in Berlin, which attracted over 5,000 visitors from more than 80 countries worldwide.
