A joint venture contract for the construction of the Mannar-Mullikulam 220kV double circuit transmission line stands signed between India's Jyoti Structures Limited and Hayleys Fentons Limited. The agreement serves as the inaugural award issued by the newly established National Transmission Network Service Provider (Private) Limited under the Mullikulam wind power transmission project. This critical infrastructure will evacuate power generated by the Mullikulam wind power projects to the national grid to boost reliability and facilitate renewable energy integration.
The partnership will deliver a resilient transmission network to support regional clean energy goals and set a strong benchmark for infrastructure excellence.
Jyoti Structures Chief Operating Officer Amit Dutta expressed pride in the collaboration, highlighting the extensive expertise brought to high-voltage transmission.
The new transmission line acts as a vital artery to channel northern wind energy potential directly into the national grid.
Hayleys Fentons Managing Director, Hasith Prematillake, described the signing as a clear declaration of confidence in the energy future of the country, noting that it aligns with their parallel 50-megawatt wind project in Mannar.
Entry into the infrastructure sector unlocks fresh growth potential and offers valuable, specialised exposure for the engineering team.
Hayleys Solar Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer Roshane Perera explained that this development positions the company to successfully undertake future large-scale power distribution projects.
The project marks an expansion of the energy portfolio for Hayleys Fentons, reinforcing a long-term commitment to sustainable development through engineered solutions.
