The All Ceylon Jewellery Merchants Association announced a sharp increase in gold prices in Sri Lanka today. A single sovereign of 24-karat gold, which sold for 370,000 rupees yesterday, increased by 10,000 rupees to market at 380,000 rupees today.
Similarly, the price of a 22-karat gold sovereign rose by 9,200 rupees today, trading at 349,600 rupees compared to yesterday's price of 340,400 rupees. Following these adjustments, a single gram of 24-karat gold now costs 47,500 rupees, while a single gram of 22-karat gold sits at 43,700 rupees.
