West Indies beat SL in first T20I

West Indies secured a seven-wicket victory over Sri Lanka in the opening Twenty20 international of the Sri Lanka–West Indies T20 series.

The visitors chased down the winning target in 19.2 overs, reaching 149 runs with a match-winning six.

Batting first after winning the toss, Sri Lanka managed 147 for 9 in their allotted overs.

For Sri Lanka, captain Kusal Mendis scored 36 runs, Kamindu Mendis top-scored with 51, while Dasun Shanaka added 22 and Pathum Nissanka contributed 18.

In bowling, Wanindu Hasaranga claimed two wickets, while Eshan Malinga picked up one.

For the West Indies, Shai Hope starred with an unbeaten 65 off 54 balls. Brandon King chipped in with 37 runs, while Shimron Hetmyer scored 17 and Roston Chase added 16.

With the ball, Jason Holder and Shamar Joseph led the attack for the West Indies, taking three wickets each.
