Sri Lanka finish strong on day two of second West Indies test

Sri Lanka declared their first innings at 549 for 9 on day two of the second Test in Antigua, leaving the West Indies at 58 for 1 at stumps.

The hosts currently trail by 491 runs after losing Brandon King to a catch by Kamindu Mendis off the bowling of Asitha Fernando.

John Campbell and Kavem Hodge remain at the crease while the tourists regret failing to take three additional chances in the field.

The visitors built upon their overnight total by adding 211 runs during the day.

Kusal Mendis and Sonal Dinusha anchored the effort with a 143-run partnership, with both players reaching half-centuries.

Kusal Mendis played an aggressive knock before Anderson Phillip bowled him for 92, and Sonal Dinusha fell shortly after to a leading edge off Kavem Hodge, also finishing on 92.

The tourists utilised the later stages of the day to score quickly before calling an end to their innings.
