Following two consecutive defeats, the Sri Lanka cricket team is at the bottom of the points table with zero points.
Despite this, their only remaining path to the final is an extremely difficult and specific one.
For Sri Lanka to have any chance of qualifying, all of the following conditions must be met.
First, Sri Lanka must defeat India in their final Super Four match. This victory must be by a very large margin to significantly improve their negative Net Run Rate (NRR).
Additionally, in today's (24) India vs. Bangladesh match, the losing team must also go on to lose all its remaining matches.
If all of these results occur, three teams will be tied on two points at the end of the Super Four stage.
Qualification for the final will then be decided by the Net Run Rate among these three teams.
This is why a large-margin victory against India is crucial for Sri Lanka.
Only if all of these conditions align will Sri Lanka have a chance to qualify for the final match.
