Environmentalist Pradeep Samarawicrama states rare species of organisms only found in Sri lanka which are living around twenty islands situated around the Mahaweli river are on the brink of extinction.
The “Sri lanka Kola Godaya” so name fish species ,and four rare of chameleons,ten varieties of extinct butterflies, sixteen varieties of mammals are inclusive to this endangered list. Mr.Pradeep Samarawicrama states the main cause for the threat is the toxic waste released into the river.
