The Colombo Crimes Division (CCD) has commenced investigations into a prisons bus being shot at in Dematagoda.
Police said suspects involved in the incident have not been identified yet.
A bus carrying prison inmates from Hultsdorf Court to Welikanda Prison was aimed at a shooting near Samantha Cinema Hall in Dematagoda. Dematagoda Chaminda sustained injuries to the chest and waist during the shoot carried out by an unidentified gang. The suspects drove by in a car and on a motorbike.
Police said the unidentified group arrived on a motorcycle and a motor vehicle. Police said a search operation is underway to arrest those involved.
Dematagoda Chaminda, was admitted to the Colombo National Hospital, and is still receiving treatment.
The bus was shot at when the suspects were heading back to prison after they were produced before the Colombo High Court.
