Veteran sports writer Elmo Rodrigopulle passed away on Monday (20) following a brief illness.
He captained St. Benedict’s College in 1960 and then represented the Ceylon Board President’s XI before becoming a journalist.
He has covered cricket in all Test playing nations.
His sports columns were loved by sports readers locally and overseas.
Although he specialized in local and international cricket, he had a knack for reporting and writing on all major sports. His second love after cricket was soccer, which he helped promote islandwide.
The funeral will be held on Thursday. The remains will be at A.F. Raymond’s Funeral Parlour from noon today.
