Lorry driver injured after train collision at Ahangama railway crossing

A terrifying collision between a lorry and a train occurred today at the Kabalana railway crossing in Ahangama.

The driver of the lorry was injured in the collision and is currently receiving treatment at the Galle National Hospital. Police stated the incident occurred at approximately 9:00 AM this morning.

Police reported that another individual was in the lorry at the time of the collision but managed to jump out and save his life after realising the imminent danger.

Police also noted that the railway crossing had warning boards installed to inform the public that the traffic lights were not functioning.

Local residents claim that many such incidents have occurred at this location due to the lack of proper signaling systems.
