A Sri Lankan woman has been found dead at a rural property in Victoria’s Latrobe Valley, Australia, in an incident police are investigating as a suspected murder-suicide.
Australian media reported that the bodies of 47-year-old Chamindika Jayawardena and her partner, 46-year-old Aaron Hammond, were discovered earlier this week at a house on McGraths Track in Hernes Oak near Morwell in the Latrobe Valley, Australia.
Emergency services responded to the property at about 12:15 p.m., where both bodies were found inside the residence.
Neighbours reportedly said they heard two loud bangs on Saturday night but initially assumed the sounds were fireworks or gunshots aimed at foxes.
Victoria Police said investigations into the circumstances surrounding the deaths are continuing. Authorities confirmed the man and woman were known to each other and stated that no other individuals are currently being sought in connection with the incident.
Police said the investigation remains ongoing.
