Heavy queues appeared at bus stands this morning (23) following a decision by several private bus associations to withdraw from operations until a fare revision is implemented.
Our reporters noted that commuters faced significant difficulties due to this disruption.
Bus associations informed transport authorities that a fare revision is necessary following the recent fuel price hike, which increased the cost of diesel.
Consequently, the National Transport Commission announced yesterday that a proposal to increase bus fares by more than 10% will be submitted for Cabinet approval today to offset rising fuel costs.
