The Shraddhabhivandana programme organised by the Hiru Media Network for the Poson Full Moon Poya day takes place today at the historic Tissamaharama Ancient Temple.
Parallel to this, a series of noble religious rituals, including the Hiru Shasanavatharana initiation of children into the monkhood, takes place with the sole objective of ensuring the longevity of the Buddha Sasana.
The "Shraddhabhivandana" great meritorious deed is organised based on a pious concept of the Chairman of the Hiru Media Network, Rayynor Silva, to mark the noble Poson Full Moon Poya day when Buddhism was gifted to Sri Lanka.
Religious offerings take place throughout today at the historic Tissamaharama Ancient Temple.
Furthermore, an aspirational offering will take place to wish for the protection of the Sambuddha Sasana for another thousand aeons.
Hiru supports this noble mission once again with the sole objective of ensuring the longevity of the Sambuddha Sasana, having ordained over 200 children throughout the past decade while also bearing the lay guardianship of those novice monks.
The Hiru Shasanavatharana, which offers monks to the Buddha Sasana, is conducted for the 13th time based on a noble concept of the Chairman of the Hiru Media Network, Rayynor Silva, for the longevity of the Sambuddha Sasana.
15 children enter the monkhood at the historic Tissamaharama temple grounds through the Hiru Shasanavatharana, a great meritorious deed this year.
The water-pouring ritual for the 15 children entering the monkhood took place yesterday in Tissamaharama at the auspicious time of 4:42 p.m.
