81-year-old woman arrested with narcotics

The Colombo Central Division Criminal Investigation Bureau reports the arrest of an 81-year-old woman with 728 grams of ICE worth Rs. 700,000 today (01) during a special raid conducted on Vithanage Road in the Kompannavidiya Police Division.

The Police Media Division states that the raid took place following specific information received by officers of the Colombo Central Division Criminal Investigation Bureau.

They searched a house in the area and discovered the stockpile of narcotics inside.

Police identified the arrested individual as an 81-year-old resident of Kompannavidiya, Colombo 02, who owns the house.

Authorities transferred her to the Kompannavidiya Police Station for further processing.

Reports indicate that the suspect's son fled the scene to evade police when the raid occurred.

Police have identified the runaway suspect, and the Kompannavidiya Police continue investigations to take him into custody.
