French government survives no-confidence vote

The French government survived ​a vote of no-confidence ‌in parliament on Monday over its handling ​of a ​severe heatwave in late June.

The ⁠motion, filed ​by France's Green party ​was backed by 132 members of parliament, while ​289 votes were ​needed for the motion to ‌pass.

There ⁠were 2,025 excess deaths recorded in France during the heatwave, ​with ​a ⁠particular increase in deaths among ​people aged over ​45, ⁠French Health Minister Stephanie Rist said ⁠last ​week.
