The French government survived a vote of no-confidence in parliament on Monday over its handling of a severe heatwave in late June.
The motion, filed by France's Green party was backed by 132 members of parliament, while 289 votes were needed for the motion to pass.
There were 2,025 excess deaths recorded in France during the heatwave, with a particular increase in deaths among people aged over 45, French Health Minister Stephanie Rist said last week.
