The case filed against former President Ranil Wickremesinghe under the Public Property Act is scheduled to be called up again today (8) at the Colombo Fort Magistrate's Court.
The complaint was filed over allegations of misusing state funds to travel to London to attend a graduation ceremony for his wife, Professor Maithree Wickremesinghe, during his tenure as President.
Fort Magistrate Isuru Netthikumara ordered the Criminal Investigation Department on the 29th to conclude investigations into the incident expeditiously without delay and to report to the court.
The Magistrate further instructed the Criminal Investigation Department to take steps to file indictments promptly if sufficient evidence exists against the suspects.
