Trade, investment, and business co-operation between Sri Lanka and Romania received a boost following the inauguration of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Bucharest office in Colombo. Located at Alexandra Place in Colombo 07, the new premises officially opened on 18 August 2026.
Former Sri Lankan Ambassador to the Russian Federation, Dr Saman Weerasinghe delivered the welcome address during the ceremony, offering congratulations on the organisation's 162nd anniversary.
The event brought together several distinguished guests, including the Deputy Minister of Tourism, the Deputy Minister of Trade and Industry, and the Chargé d’Affaires of Romania to Sri Lanka, Mihaela Rutjens.
