Polonnaruwa meteorite contained first compelling evidence that life exists outside earth

A large group of algae called diatoms have been found to be present in the meteorite that fell in Araganwila on 29 December 2012.

 

Director of the Buckingham Centre for Astrobiology, University of Buckingham and Professor at Cardiff University Prof. Chandra Wickramasinghe stated that this is the first compelling evidence for life existing outside the Earth.

 

The analysis was done in Cardiff by Mr. J.Wallis using a scanning electron microscope.
