The Ceylon Chamber of Commerce has strengthened its international business network by signing Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with the Qatar Sri Lanka Business Council (QSLBC) and the Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture of Beirut and Mount Lebanon (CCIA-BML).
The MoU with QSLBC was signed at the Ceylon Chamber, while the agreement with CCIA-BML was signed virtually.
The agreement with QSLBC comes as Sri Lanka and Qatar mark 50 years of bilateral relations, providing an opportunity to further expand commercial ties and business-to-business engagement between the two countries.
Krishan Balendra, Chairperson of the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce, welcomed the agreements, saying the Chamber was pleased to support and cooperate with both organisations.
He said the partnerships would strengthen connections between the respective business communities and create opportunities for increased trade, investment and commercial engagement.
QSLBC Secretary B.A.W.C. Gunasekara also welcomed the agreement, noting its potential to strengthen business relations between Sri Lanka and Qatar and facilitate greater interaction between companies in the two markets.
The virtual signing of the MoU with CCIA-BML was held in the presence of Sri Lanka’s Ambassador to the Lebanese Republic, His Excellency Anura Withanage. Mohamed Choucair, Chairman of CCIA-BML, welcomed the partnership and highlighted the potential for closer cooperation between the two chambers and increased business engagement between Sri Lanka and Lebanon.
The two MoUs provide a framework for the exchange of business and economic information, facilitation of contacts between the respective business communities, and identification of opportunities for trade, investment and commercial cooperation.
The agreements further expand the Ceylon Chamber’s international network of partnerships with chambers and business organisations, supporting its efforts to connect Sri Lankan businesses with overseas markets, business partners and investment opportunities.
