Nearly forty students from the Primary Section of Waṭaræka Junior School in Padukka have been admitted to the Padukka Divisional Hospital due to an allergic reaction, according to the Padukka Police.
Police stated that out of the group hospitalised, approximately 20 children have received treatment and been discharged from the treatment unit.
However, a further 20 children remain in the hospital receiving in-patient care.
Additionally, 3 students have been transferred to the Homagama Base Hospital for further treatment.
The police indicated that they suspect the allergic reaction was caused after the students consumed their morning meal at the school.
