Industrialists should be given pride of place – CNCI Chairman

“Industrialists in Sri Lanka should be given ‘pride of place’ as they are a vital facet of the nation’s success,” opined Pradeep Kahawalage, Chairman of the Ceylon National Chamber of Industries (CNCI), at the CNCI Achiever Awards 2025 for industrial excellence held at Cinnamon Life, City of Dreams, Colombo.

“They also generate employment, providing a higher standard of living to society,” he added.

The CNCI Achiever Awards is annually organised by CNCI to recognise and reward Sri Lankan industrialists for their achievements and excellence in the manufacturing and service sectors.

Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya, Chief Guest at the event, stated: “A micro-level enterprise of today can become a giant business in a few years if it progresses on the correct track. CNCI will be a great source of strength in bringing about a more enabling environment, especially for the SME sector.”

“We must support their expansions and innovations, and motivate them to penetrate new markets. Hence, recognition through awards of this nature is extremely important in encouraging our local industries. CNCI has been a dedicated facilitator, supporter, and promoter of all manufacturing and service sectors in the country,” she added.

Sunil Handunneththi, Minister of Industry and Entrepreneurship Development; Chathuranga Abeysinghe, Deputy Minister of Industry and Entrepreneurship Development; and Semih Lutfu Turgut, Ambassador of the Republic of Türkiye, participated as Special Guests.

The event attracted over 500 participants, including top corporate industrialists, government officials, foreign ambassadors, diplomats, industry representatives, and award winners.
