Court orders arrest of man for filing false abduction complaint

Horana Chief Magistrate Chandana Kalansuriya ordered the Horana Headquarters Police to immediately arrest a resident of Tibbotugoda for providing false information regarding an alleged assault. The order followed a courtroom revelation where the complainant admitted he was not abducted but had accompanied the accused individuals voluntarily.

The incident began when the individual claimed that two men on a motorcycle intercepted him near a bank in Pokunuwita, kidnapped him to a deserted quarry, and assaulted him before dropping him near his home. Based on this report, the individual sought hospital treatment, and police quickly arrested two suspects from the Pokunuwita and Kanewala areas near the Horana court premises.

During the court hearing, the two suspects were released on personal bail of 500,000 rupees each. Although it was disclosed that the individuals involved have histories of drug addiction and other pending legal cases, the magistrate issued the arrest warrant for the original complainant due to his contradictory testimony in open court. The investigation was conducted by a team from the Horana Crime Division under the direction of Headquarters Inspector Ranga Perera.
