The joint organising committee of the 147th Battle of the Blues has announced that preparations are officially underway for the historic annual cricket encounter between Royal College, Colombo and S. Thomas’ College, Mount Lavinia.
Recognised as the longest uninterrupted school cricket rivalry in the world, the event is set to be held with its customary grandeur at the Sinhalese Sports Club (SSC) grounds.
The main three-day match for the D.S. Senanayake Memorial Shield is scheduled to take place on 12, 13, and 14 March 2026.
In a significant departure from tradition, the 49th Mustangs Trophy—the limited-overs version of the rivalry—will be played as a day-night 50-over match.
The fixture is scheduled for 28 March 2026 at the SSC grounds.
This year’s Mustangs Trophy will hold additional historical significance as it will be played under the newly installed floodlights at the SSC.
The lighting system was recently established by Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) as part of the infrastructure upgrades for the 2026 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.
