Minor earthquake recorded off the coast of Trincomalee

The Geological Survey and Mines Bureau (GSMB) has reported a minor earthquake occurring in the seas off the Trincomalee coast this afternoon, 31 January 2026.

The tremor, which took place at approximately 3:49 PM local time, was recorded at a magnitude of 3.6 on the Richter scale.
